Australia is home to the top league of professional rugby clubs, precisely known as The National Rugby League (NRL). Famously known all around the world as the most elite rugby league championship, the National Rugby League (NRL) is channelled and watched all around the globe, per season. It is also one of the most attended rugby league competitions with people from all around the world, including celebrities, coming forward to support their favourite teams.

Some Noteworthy Facts about the National Rugby League

The National Rugby League’s main competitor is the Telstra Premiership, which is sponsored by the Telstra Corporation. Moreover, due to the fact that it is Australia’s most prized and superlative rugby league, the National Rugby League even includes clubs that belong to the first Sydney Club Rugby Leagues that date as far back as 1908.

The National Rugby League matches are conducted in New Zealand as well as Australia, throughout the months of March to October. The league consists of sixteen teams, out of which one of those is based in New Zealand, while the rest are all Australia based. The matches of the season are intense enough to spark up rugby league  all over the world.

However, the question in everyone’s minds these days is “Who are the likely candidates to be awarded the wooden spoon in the National Rugby League (NRL) this year?”

Candidates Likely to Acquire the “Wooden Spoon”

A wooden spoon is handed to the team that finishes last in the National Rugby League. The NRL Telstra Premiership is one of the most erratic sporting contests across the globe, and this year has been no different. With people from all around the world betting their dollars on the team that they think will be the glorious winners of the season, there are also people betting on who they think will be the glorious owner of the wooden spoon too. However, with much of the NRL Telstra Premiership season 2017 rounds still left to play out, nothing can be said for sure.

Since everyone is permitted to give their two cents on the matter, here are some predictions that undoubtedly make sense:

With the NRL Telstra Premiership currently in the 21st round of the season, it wouldn’t be out of the ordinary to see Newcastle and the Tigers drop further down the ladder rather than rise up. So, it’ll be a tough competition between these two teams to get to the spoon. However, in the case of who is the rightful owner to the wooden spoon, most people are indefinitely betting on Newcastle. It won’t come as much of a surprise to the watchers to find Newcastle acquiring one final spoon before they finally up their game. However, if Newcastle does evidently pick up their game, they can definitely avoid the title and next in line, is likely to be the Tigers.
